What About the Free Government and Other Cheaper Reports?
The "free" Government car history reports are not really free to start with. You have to purchase the report for a few dollars per VIN from one of the authorized providers. These providers charge extra to provide a little bit of data beyond what the Government database contains.
All of these data providers fall into the category of a second tier car history report. They provide information about the Title but do not provide much data beyond that. They do not make any attempt to provide a repair history and the basic low cost reports do not include any accident data.
We consider AutoCheck to be a top tier provider. A top tier provider is constantly purchasing data to provide the most complete vehicle history report and giving you as much information as possible. They purchase accident, repair and maintenance data. Plus, they back their reports with protection. AutoCheck includes their Buyback Protection Guarantee at no extra cost. If they missed a title brand that shows up after you purchased the car they will buy the car back from you under the terms of their program.
